This photo book consists of my short, unexpected encounters. I call them duyên số – things destined to happen. It started with an intended business trip to the beautiful land of Hội An, Vietnam. Then I was drawn into a current of encounters, entirely unintended, which finally reached its destination in my family reunion in the spring. In each encounter, I catch a glimpse of the endless loop of the seasons of life. Just as the world goes through spring, summer, fall, and winter, man is born, thrives, wanes, and dies. Like when one sows a seed, it will sprout, prosper, and give fruit. The good and bad of life are intertwined, and such is the law of life. It all speaks to my heart that each encounter is a treasure, singular and unique. Each is a one-in-a-lifetime.
