Love Of Life

In 10 Parks Of Vietnam

And The Impact Of Landscape On The Mood Of Fashion Photography

Each country has different characteristics, natural characteristics from climate, altitude, colour of vegetation, impact on human life, besides that, artificial factors such as construction form, politics, society’s impact on human mood and expression, and many other different factors such as religious life, culture…

For photography, I think, it is the differences of each region that have affected the emotion of the photo. In fact, many artists have tried to recreate the feeling of this country to experiment with the feeling of another country (for example, bringing the emotion of a photo taken by the landscape in Hong Kong into photos taken in Vietnam) but have not created the maximum effect, I think this has invisibly not exploited the full potential of the unique life in each different place.

From the perspective of someone trained in landscape architecture, I see that each country, each region, each location has different mental reactions. This project is a collaboration between me and DNNLY Vietnam-Don’t Be Afraid To Say Love (Experimenting interdisciplinary creativity from Vietnam in the direction of adapting to changes in the times and applying research to life to connect with each other).

We wanted to test and find out the differences between 10 landscape spaces in 5 cities and localities stretching from North to South of Vietnam: Vung Tau Beach (HCMC), Sai Gon (HCMC), Da Lat, Hue, and Hanoi. At each stop, we chose 2 parks/open spaces to test the impact of activities and landscapes on the models in the photo. For different landscapes and different cultures, the models will have different emotional reactions.

This is not only subject to the model but also objective due to natural factors such as the altitude of the area, the density of trees in the area, the temperature of the area, and the construction density of the area. Natural factors and artificial factors directly affect human life and thereby contribute to forming the overall energy of that space. Choosing the Ao Dai is an experiment because it is an attention-grabbing outfit, but still very close to the life of Vietnamese people, as an interesting interactive test.

Testing steps from DNNLY Vietnam are as follows

We started by selecting 5 Ao Dai designers/brands in Vietnam who have a special approach to investing in thinking, approach to the current generation, and social responsibility. Each designer has their own process and concerns, from issues such as promoting natural textile villages in Vietnam, folk culture, to contemporary Vietnamese culture and applying it to life in a humane direction, spreading globally.

From the interviews with these Ao Dai designers, we selected 5 localities in Vietnam that have a connection in terms of messages with the brands. Next, we tested these Ao Dai designs in parks/open landscape spaces in these 5 localities.

About the characters appearing in the photo sets from our Collaborators instead of professional models, to easily integrate into spaces and life.

dada. ww : “Poetic” and (Saigon) Ho Chi Minh City (Vietnam)

Lơ Silk: “Freedom” and Ha Noi Capital (Vietnam)

Huy Vo: ” Heritage” and Hue City (Vietnam)

Duc Studio: “Bold” and Da Lat City (Vietnam)

Trang Bui: “Dynamic” and Vung Tau Beach (now Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam)

In each place we passed, we chose 2 parks that were special to these localities, thereby forming 10 photo sets with different emotional experiences and not imposing the nature of one place on another. Therefore, it created a diversity of experiences of the characters from happy, sad, pensive, rebellious, happy, etc., adapting to each space.

Hopefully, we can encourage the development of more beautiful green areas/parks/open spaces in Vietnam.
