About the “Insecure No.1” collection by Da Wa Du.
Based on modern-day insecurity, where modern humans feel a lack of resilience and are constantly
anxious about impermanence, thus striving for permanence. Insecurity and stability are both parts of life.
“Insecure” refers to the arrangement of fabrics without destroying excess clothing. It restructures the
texture and layers.
Ancient tribes were more adept at gathering materials and accepting the limitations of natural materials
than the modern world, which strives to find enduring materials. Dawadu – Enough Is Enough
This collection is titled INSECURE; a state of instability can, in fact, be another expression of
sustainability. I embraced the idea that the garments I create need not be fixed in form; instead, they can
be disassembled and constantly transformed. Using only materials already available in my own wardrobe,
I assemble pieces to create new looks. I believe we should seek a balance between personal fashion
preferences and the concept of “enough”—living responsibly within our ecosystem.
This project draws inspiration from Vietnamese folk art and ancient woodblock prints depicting activities
such as herding ducks, fishing, and waste collection—tasks historically associated with the lower rungs of
society. Yet, to me, these individuals are truly skilled and play a vital role in supporting other
communities; indeed, waste collectors and nomads embody a sense of harmony rooted in East Asian
cosmological philosophies regarding the seasons, the sun, the moon, and the stars.

Da Wa Du (Đã Quá Đủ)- meaning “more than enough” or “excessive.”
DaWaDu’s feasible and impractical designs on clothing. Reflecting on clothing as an outer covering of the body in its relationship with each individual, mind, universe, and nature. What is our responsibility with consumption?
From Vietnam, the name DAWADU plays on the Vietnamese phrase *đã quá đủ*—meaning “more than enough” or “excessive.” DAWADU is a project I developed to think about the fashion industry amidst the global ecological crisis and volatility. Starting with the concept of “DAWADU” (excess), I asked myself: what should I do? I faced a conflict between the younger generation’s desire to explore and the joy of creative design, and the reality of material surplus left behind by the era of overconsumption. I had to choose: abandon my personal passion, or pursue it while aligning with the current global context and encouraging a lifestyle that is responsible toward the planet.
